Thanks Guillermo!

I pretty much make my sauce the same as you except with a bunch of garlic, a touch of lemon juice, and a pinch of sugar :). But I will admit to using canned whole tomatoes at times.

Hi,
I totally agree with you, pizza should have fresh tomatoes, I does not even use any canned pizza sauce, I always use, fresh tomatoes, with "oregano", some olive oil and salt, that's it!

great blog!

Hi Romina,

I haven't had ketchup from/in the U.S. for so long but I do remember finding Hellmann's and Danica much sweeter than U.S. Heinz when I moved here. Danica is just horrible.

Ha, ha! i just got back from BSAS one week ago (i'm a native but living in the US) and i know exactly what you're talking about! the ketchup pizza. the first time it grossed me out but i can't help but think that maybe ketchup tastes different in Argie?? you'll have to let me know cause i can't say i've ever had it there. but then again, pizza is so amazing in Argie, why would you want to risk ruining it??

love the blog BTW!

@Anis

Yeah when little kid screamed "tomates!" I almost had a heart attack. Not even salsa but tomatoes.

Haven't written about sandwiches de miga yet but plan on it some day. If I can just remember to take a couple photos before everyone eats them all.

@Cory

You know, I don't think it would bother me to see someone using some ketchup as a condiment on their pizza. Not that I would do it but to me that's no different than me using hot sauce or those specialty pizzas here and in other countries that have mayonnaise or salsa golf drizzled on them. To each their own I guess.

I remembering a wiki article on either pizza or Brazilian cuisine, and I seem to remember a mention of Brazilians liking ketchup on their pizza. I don't think it was as a main sauce, but as a condiment. Either way, how cheap sounding! :p

You're totally right. I'm an argie living abroad but was visiting Buenos Aires a month ago and saw the ads. That's not a tomato! That's ketchup!
I also disliked the Hellman's mayo ad where they ask people what they think it's important when it comes to food/cooking.

I always read you, love your blog :)
Have you ever written about sandwiches de miga? I could live for weeks only on sandwiches de miga...
